Why take a one-minute test?
One minute is long enough to smooth out a lucky few seconds, and short enough to repeat several times in a row. That makes it the most practical length for comparing your speed from one day to the next.
Because you can stay fully focused for 60 seconds, your result is close to your top speed rather than your everyday speed. Expect it to be a little higher than your score on a longer test.
Getting a score you can trust
A single result can swing by several words per minute depending on the words you get. For a fairer picture, take three tests and look at the middle score. UseRepeat same words on the results screen if you want to see how much practice on the same text helps.
What to do with your result
If your raw WPM is well above your WPM, mistakes are your biggest cost, so slow down slightly and aim for cleaner typing. If the two are close, you are ready to push your speed.See how your score compares.
